LA and San Diego
Well, we have been useless as bloggers for a while. We started reading books. Reading is known to have a negative effect on writing. We got out of the habit of writing the blog over the 9 straight sea days as we just didn’t feel like there was enough going on to warrant comment. We did have a violinist as one of our evening performers. She did two different shows during the 9 days at sea. She is originally from Hungary and plays very energetically in a number of musical styles. We had lunch with her and it was very enjoyable to talk a little shop. Bernadette Niari is her name and you would probably enjoy seeing some of her promo's on the internet.
Then we hit LA for the second time. We docked in San Pedro which we had visited
on our previous stop in LA. There was not
much there at that time. We were a long
ways from getting transportation at the pier we docked at this time. Looked like about half a mile walk just to
get to a place we could get a cab or an Uber.
We were then a long way from
shopping places we needed to up our supplies and knew we would be closer to
what we needed in San Diego so we just stayed on the ship. Does that warrant a blog entry?
We left LA
and went south to San Diego, our third visit to San Diego on this trip. Is it possible the captain has a girl friend
there? We walked off the ship and made
our way to a Rite Aide Pharmacy and found half the ship there restocking basic
supplies. We bought some serious snack
foods, lots of individually wrapped Hershey things, Pringles, Werthers etc. with
the intention of giving them to the workers on the ship, specifically our room
stewards, who refused to tell us what they would want from a shore stop. The crew has been bubbled on the ship since
October, and we feel bad that they have been unable to leave the ship. They are relaxing that bubble a bit as the
entire ship has tested negative for Covid on our last two testing days but not
everyone has had the chance to leave the ship yet. We took our haul back to the ship, put it out
with our friendly animals and had the animals invite our stewards to take the
goodies and share if they chose. We took
off from the ship again to head to a mall which had some high end stores in the
hopes of getting Jen a second swim suit so she can go beaching two days in a
row and does not have to put on a wet suit on the second day. We also had a couple other things to look for
and all was found in good time. This was
important as the ship was scheduled to leave the dock at 3:00, a fairly early
leave time. Not only that, but it was
Super Bowl Sunday and the ship was going to show the game on their large screen
set-up in the Insignia Lounge which is where they do the nightly entertainment. We found our way to the lounge where they
served popcorn, pizza, sandwiches, and of course drinks if desired. We watched the game but the satellite feed
does not include the commercials all of you saw. We only get the ESPN promotional commercials
so we missed out on a lot of the fun.
Good game.
We did not take any pics in LA this time. We took a few from the boat in San
Diego. I will fill out the pictures with
a few more tigger and moose pics.
How thoughtful to treat the stewards!!!!! Looking forward to more pictures!!!
